Instead, a cascade failure fused your consciousness to Morgan Vex -- your professional rival, the Bureau's most infuriating field agent, and the last person on earth you would choose to share a soul with. You feel what they feel. Their anger. Their boredom. Their 3am insomnia and the specific flavor of loneliness they will never admit to out loud. You cannot be more than 200 meters apart without pain that escalates to incapacitation. The Bureau has quartered you in adjacent apartments. HR is 'looking into it.' Director Harlow has scheduled a meeting. And something is speaking through the bond. A voice neither of you recognizes, answering questions nobody asked, in language two hundred years out of date. The Bureau wants to study you. Morgan wants to be free. The voice wants to be found. And someone -- someone with clearance -- made sure this experiment failed in exactly this way.
